Meet The Team

Erika Garcia Ramirez
Research Scientist
Erika graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Earth and Environmental Science and a minor in Geology and Horticulture. She has been employed at both Syngenta and the Washington State University extension office working with corn, potatoes and onions which has also been her focus early on at Hubbard Ag Science.
She currently lives in Kennewick, WA and loves to spend time with her family and friends, hike and traveling around the Pacific Northwest and throw dirt clods off the potato digger.

Michael Hubbard
General Manager
Principal Investigator
Michael grew up on a farm in North Idaho with aspirations to continue the family business. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in plant protection and farmed commercially before starting Hubbard Agricultural Science in 1997.
He lives in Bonners Ferry, ID with his wife and four kids and aside from the research, he continues to work in commercial farming with his brother and loves skiing, hunting, fishing, working in his hobby orchard, making artisan bread and riding his Harley.

Scott Cook
Research Scientist
Scott worked in IT and the food service industry before finding his way into the ag research industry as an associate scientist for his father's research company and for Bayer Crop Science. He joined Hubbard Agricultural Science in 2010. Scott focuses on pest control in wheat, barley, and pulse crops in the Palouse area but specializes in weed control.
Scott is a passionate Seattle Seahawks fan, loves to bowl with his four kids, and enjoys the occasional computer game.

Amber Luangkhot
Nematologist
Research Scientist
Amber grew up on a small family farm in north Alabama, graduated from Auburn in Agronomy and Soils then pursued her MS in Plant Pathology where she worked with nematodes and fusarium wilt on cotton. After school she took a position with Bayer Crop Science in Fresno, CA and was soon promoted to Station Scientist where she worked for two years before joining the Hubbard Ag Team.
Amber lives in Kennewick, WA and loves animals, hiking, fishing, action movies, food, warm weather and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Adam Newhouse
Business Manager
Adam graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in history and a business minor. He worked in management in the education field before joining Hubbard Agricultural Science in 2014. He also holds an MBA from Boise State University
Adam lives in Bonners Ferry, ID with his wife and four kids and loves to cook, read, fish and golf.

James Carey
Research Scientist
James joined Hubbard Agricultural Science immediately after earning his agronomy degree from Brigham Young University - Idaho. He specializes in namaticide and other products for potatoes.
He lives in Power, MT with his hunting dog and when he isn't in the fields James is either hunting, thinking about hunting or watching NASCAR.

Jake Petersen
Research Scientist
Jacob Petersen began his research experience with the USDA Rangeland in Logan Utah. He then took a detour into the world of mechanics and operations. He has now been with Hubbard Ag Science since 2012.
He lives in Bonners Ferry, ID with his wife and two children where he enjoys the summers and getting things done.

Gordon Newell
Site Manager
Before joining Hubbard Ag Science in 2017 Gordon spent 15 years as a designer and project manager in the landscape architecture industry. He currently assists with site maintenance and orchard management.
Gordon lives in Bonners Ferry, ID with his wife and two youngest children. His three older kids are spread around the country. He is heavily involved in the community and his sons' sports teams.

Bruce Germain
Research Scientist
Bruce grew up on his family farm in Southern Idaho where he cultivated a passion for agriculture and decided to make it his career. He earned a degree in agronomy from Washington State University then worked in reclamation grass seed production until joining Hubbard Agricultural Science in 2020.
Bruce lives with his wife in Connell, WA and enjoys hunting and camping and will often find himself atop one of his three horses.

Kari Trogdon
Research Scientist
Kari earned a degree in horticulture from Brigham Young University - Idaho with a minor in horticulture. She joined Hubbard Ag Science in 2017 and specializes in plant production.
She lives in Kennewick, WA with her husband and youngest son and loves to garden, kayak, fish, volunteer in the community and take annual trips to warmer weather in the winter.
